Guanxi to spend $1.3b on Beibu Gulf ports

Image Guangxi government plans to introduce private capital into port construction at Beibu Gulf (Gulf of Tonkin). Guangxi government may spend accumulated US$1.33 billion on port construction projects in Beibu Gulf, including Qinzhou, Beihai and Fangchenggang. According to its development plan, the cargo throughput at Beibu Gulf economic zone is expected to reach 100 million tonnes in 2010 and 300 million tonnes in 2020.

Korean moves to take advantage of strong outbound freight market

ImageA booming market to Australia for air freight has prompted Korean Air to operate a third B747-400 freighter for the month of December only. The aircraft - with around 100 tonne capacity- will operate between Incheon, South Korea and Sydney on Sundays arriving around mid-day and leaving early evening.

HCMC seeks gov�t approval for building new seaports

ImageHo Chi Minh City’s People Committee has petitioned the Prime Minister for additional adjustment and planning of the local port system.

The city has planned to build a port for shipbuilding and water-traffic services with an area of 150 ha on the left of Soai Rap River’s bank in Binh Khanh (Can Gio), and to rezone the Aquatic Central Port next door.

Shipping line invests in Ba Ngoi port

ImageThe State-owned Viet Nam National Shipping Lines (Vinalines) will pour 300 million USD into construction at Ba Ngoi port in 2008.

Vinalines plans to build two container ports and one multi-purpose port to better serve the needs of larger vessels, said the Vinalines general director, Mai Van Phuc.
